Back-End Developer

We are looking for an experienced, passionate, and talented back-end developer to join our team.

We are a fun, geeky, passionate group looking for an equally geeky, passionate, well-rounded individual who is looking for the variety and energy of an agency environment. We are less concerned with the amount of time you have spent with any particular framework, platform or language. We are most interested in the complexity of the work you have done and your ability to successfully drive the project from architecture to deployment.

Apart from being passionate your work, we also hope you have the following skills:

  • Software development

    • Proficiency with C#, PHP, Ruby, and/or other back-end languages

    • Experience with relational databases like MySQL, PostgreSQL, and/or Microsoft SQL Server and NoSQL like ElasticSearch

    • Experience with web application frameworks like Laravel, Rails, Symfony/Illuminate, etc.

    • Experience creating and integrating with RESTful APIs and XML data structures

    • Some proficiency with HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, and JSON and experience collaborating with front-end developers

    • Experience integrating content management systems (CMS) such as ExpressionEngine, SiteCore, Sitefinity, WordPress, and/or others

    • Experience with structured quality assurance processes and tools

    • Familiarity with source code management tools (e.g, Git and BitBucket), deployment tools (e.g., Capistrano), and automation tools (e.g., Grunt and Gulp)

    • Comfortable designing and deploying development, staging, user acceptance testing (UAT), and production environments

    • Collaborating successfully with multi-disciplinary teams to bring together digital strategy, creative design, user experience design, technical architecture and development into a smart digital solution

    • Collaborating with client teams to understand business and technical requirements and (when necessary) to ensure that our solutions integrate within a client’s IT infrastructure

    • Teaching and mentoring fellow developers, agency colleagues, and clients about web and web application development

    • Represent and communicate agency’s creative and business philosophy, methodology and capabilities to current and potential clients and to agency

    • Multi-tasking and working within client and project deadlines

    • Accurately estimating time and resource requirements needed to accomplish development tasks

    • Enhance your skills by learning new tools, frameworks, platforms and technologies

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in computer science or equivalent experience

  • 4-6 years previous experience, preferably in agency or consulting organizations

  • Samples of previous work we can see online and on Github that demonstrate strong thinking and execution

  • Strong communications skills with fellow software developers, agency colleagues, and client contacts

  • Experience adopting and evolving existing codebases

  • Solid attention to detail and a user experience design sensibility

Talent & Development Lead

We are looking for an experienced, passionate, and hard-working Talent & Development Lead to join our team. At Brighton, all the expertise needed to deliver insightful and creative marketing solutions is under one roof. The Talent & Development Lead will manage all aspects of the recruiting and hiring process and will be the first contact with potential future Brighonians. He/she will use solid verbal and written communication skills, excellent relationship building skills, and strong leadership and team management skills to help to hire and develop our exceptional Brightonian talent base.

Potential candidates must possess 4-6 years of experience in an agency enfironment or something similar. The ideal candidate would posess experience in the recruiting field as well. We are looking for hard-working, detail-oriented, multi-tasking professionals who know the critical importance of managing expectations and relationships, while working across teams to ensure that deliverables are on time, on budget, and error free. And in particular for this role, finding a person that can manage all of the talent it takes to get this done. Given the nature of this position, this is also a role that could be part-time depending on the level of experience of the candidate.

Essential Job Functions

  • Works closely with the CEO and all team leaders to understand the skills needed to build successful delivery teams and to identify who would make strong Brightonian’s.

  • Manage all aspects of the recruiting process including but not limited to: initial phone screening interviews, scheduling in-person invterviews, coordinating with recruiters, tracking candidates, following up with candidates, preparing offer letters, etc.

  • Manage all aspects of the hiring process including new employee set up, hardware aqcuisitions, setting up information in personnel systems, etc.

  • Develop a relationship with recruiters who are connected to unique skills and manage all processes associated with bringing on vendors and freelancers. This will include contract negotiations, terms and conditions, competitive rates analysis and more.

  • Manage multiple postings across a variety of recruiting sites as well as knowing the best places to find hidden talent.

  • Develop on-boarding processes to ensure the successful integration of new hires.

  • Manage development/training programs for all employees and help identify training for individuals based on objectives defined for individual growth.

  • Manage the review process throughout the year to ensure Brighton employees are getting the training and feedback needed to grow in their careers.

  • Manage Brighton’s online reputation across recruiting sites to ensure positive reviews which will help with the recruiting of talent.

Senior Project Manager

We are looking for an experienced, passionate, and hard-working Senior Project Manager to join our team. The primary functions of this position include project and program management, occasional client management, and team leadership. The Senior Project Manager position requires a sufficient breadth and depth of expertise in Brighton's digital and traditional capabilities to lead large, multi-disciplinary teams of people to successfully deliver integrated client solutions. This position will also help Brighton elevate the business processes and best practices of our project management team. The right candidate may also take on a leadership role in our project management discipline.

The Senior Project Manager manages complex, multi-track projects or small-scale programs to an acceptable level of risk by balancing scope, time, cost and quality while maintaining a positive environment that promotes individual development and high performance standards. He/she uses advanced problem solving skills, strong business skills, solid verbal and written communication skills, excellent relationship building skills, and strong leadership and team management skills.

He/she must have a solid understanding of project management tools and approaches to manage complex, multi-disciplinary projects and the flexibility to lead diverse and dynamic teams to deliver balanced digital and traditional solutions to our client's challenging business problems. Formal project management training and PMP certification are strongly desired.

Essential Job Functions

  • Structures and manages integrated, multi-track projects and/or programs of multiple projects. Leads the development and tracking of integrated plans across digital and traditional projects.

  • Oversees the development of project deliverables. Establishes and maintains processes to manage scope over the project lifecycle. Identifies and manages project and/or program issues. Sets project quality and performance standards.

  • Responsible for ongoing client satisfaction and serves as the project team’s representative and advocate in client discussions. Manages peer-level client relationships including expectations, communications, negotiations, escalation, and feedback. Provides day-to-day project contact for the client.

  • Adapts Brighton’s approach to meet project and program objectives and client business drivers. Establishes and maintains project and/or program communications. Oversees project estimations and staffing.

  • Assesses and manages risk within, and across, multiple projects. Maintains project tracking and information systems.

  • Partners with others to lead teams of 5-25 people across creative design, user experience design, software development, client services, strategy, social media, and/or marketing disciplines. Builds and structures the project team to ensure maximum performance. Provides purpose, direction and motivation to project teams.

  • Clarifies and communicates project objectives and success criteria. Ensures key project and program-wide roles and responsibilities are defined across disciplines. Ensures the use of best practices and applies lessons learned from previous projects.

  • Ensures a positive, collaborative work environment for the team. May supervise the work of more junior Project Managers.

  • Mentors and coaches fellow project managers and other project team members as appropriate.

  • Manages third-party freelancer, partner, and/or vendor relationships, as necessary.

  • Maintains awareness of the current industry environments that shape opportunities for client solutions, i.e. news events, industry trends, technology trends, mergers, etc..

  • Collaborates with the leadership team to pursue, shape, and sell client solutions utilizing innovative sales tools and strategies.
