JD brings over 20 years of design and marketing experience to Brighton Agency, where he currently leads creative for the Consumer team and co-leads the Creative department. After graduating from SIU Carbondale with a degree in communication arts, JD started designing pagination for the sports section in the Southwest Missourian newspaper (he doesn’t like sports; he just needed a job). He then moved to Ansira in St. Louis to work on dimensional design and promotions for Anheuser-Busch. After finding inspiration in the form — and contents — of beer steins, he came to Brighton in 2008 and spearheaded efforts to expand and refine the agency’s packaging capabilities for our CPG partners, including Pictsweet Farms, Natura Pet Products, FURminator and Procter & Gamble. Today, JD works closely with clients like Eukanuba, CRAVE and Pampers to explore how to engage with brands through all five senses, in 360 degrees, and tell a consistent and compelling brand story across every consumer touchpoint.
A true Missouri mountain man, he’s most at home out in nature or on his motorcycle. Though his creative work has earned him endless client praise and creative recognition, the award he covets most is Dad of the Year…if he could just get his kids to nominate him.
